My Past Weekend Eating in New Orleans

I just got back today and have to say that if you are watching your weight- this is NOT the place to go!
I thought the food was amazing and i am pretty picky. We had the BBQ shrimp at Mr. B's, which i loved and i don't see how anyone can think it is over-rated. infact, my husband and i split it for lunch and if i had to do it over again, i would have ordered one just for myself!! Dinner at Commander's Palace was good - i thought the service was amazing and the place really pretty, and although i really did think the food was very good - i can't say i was blown away. But it did NOT seem touristy like i thought it would be, and it was a great dining experience. I think my favorite meal was at NOLA - i thought it was great. i've been told that it is more like a NY restaurant and not a N.O. experience, but i don't care - i thought it was better than 95% of the restaurants i have been to in NYC. We ate gumbo at acme and it was ok, it was a snack-so that was fine, but i wouldn't tell people they have to go there. and by the way, we stayed at the Royal Sonesta and it was sooooo wonderful!
