Weekend chow - Sherman Cafe, Bottega Fiorentina, East Coast Grill and Christina's

Sat. a.m. - Another delicious scone and good cup of coffee at the Sherman in Union - They do all their own baking - I think their baked goods are just fantastic - fresh, large and flavorful - they have these interesting popover-type things stuffed with ham and cheese or spinach and feta - had a blueberry scone - good stuff.

Sat. lunch - Spaghetti carbonara at B.Fior. in Coolidge - perfect size for lunch with nice hunk of fresh Italian bread - lots of fresh cracked pepper - a real carbonara to renew my faith after the bad experience at Antonia's. If I lived near this place, I would end up looking like Marlon Brando, post-Superman. :)

Stopped in for a quick dinner at ECG Sunday evening -

Tuna taco appetizer - two flour tortillas with tuna, onion, avocado, cilantro, lime - definitely warmed up the appetite - yummy as usual - did we taste cumin?

Entrees:
CH had the grilled scallops and shrimp - three giant prawns and three large scallops, noodles and grilled veggies - yummy! White sangria nicely complimented.

I had the local special - striped bass with mango/hearts of palm salsa and portuguese bacon (read: pork rinds), fried yucca and I think rabe - Rabe was too salty, but the yucca balanced it out...Very tasty fish. At this price point ($25), I thought it was a little bit expensive, given the average size portion, but enjoyed it.

Stopped in for some Christina's ice cream to take home - a pint of malted vanilla - outstanding - like an ice cream-y Whopper candy!

Also had a taste of their champagne sorbet - Holy Cow, was it good! Could almost taste the bubbles. ;) That turned into the second pint for later in the week.
