We went to see my son at his new apartment in Branford. I thought I would note the restaurants we ate at with brief reviews.
Tommy Sullivans: Standard pub\bar fare at a good price. The burgers were fine. Big and not too pricy. The wings were well cooked but as far as I could tell had no buffalo sauce on them. The nachos were very good, with lots of cheese and jalepenos and good salsa and guacamole to go with them
Home: Very cool place. For an app we had the sloppy joe spring rolls that were outstanding. Small spring rolls with what appeared to be barbequed beef and a BBQ dipping sauce. A little pricy for a small serving. My wife had a very nice chicken and mushroom stew with harissa. She asked for it mild, so not a huge flavor profile. My son had a macaroni and cheese with Italian sausage. It was pretty good, but I thought it was a bit bland. I had a teriyaki salmon wrap with kimchee. I thought it was very good.
Overall, I liked it a lot. I thought it was a little pricy for what we got but we were not disappointed. The quality of the food was high and the service was very attentive.
Parthenon Diner: Classic greek diner. We had breakfast. Everything was good, huge serving of Eggs Benedict for my wife. My over easy eggs were over medium but they were busy. Big problem was that they served the French toast with "breakfast syrup" in little cups. To be fair, though, they made no bones about it not being real maple syrup by putting it in a glass container.
Got us in and out quickly but didn't hurry us. Big portions and it all tasted good.
