My fiance and I are planning an August wedding in La Crosse (something slightly complicated by he fact neither of us have ever been there - we were smitten with the steamboat) and are desperately in need of a caterer. Our dinner should be fairly elegant - I'll be eating all the cheese curds and sausage in the days before the wedding - but should ideally feature regional, innovative and real food. I'm sure anyone who visits this site understands my dread of a another plate of rubber chicken and a carefully sculpted vegetable medley.
A few of the better restaurants in the area, such as Freight House, don't do off-premise catering. But I'm sure there are places in the area (which, for weddings, could stretch as far as Rochester or even the Twin Cities) that do. What do you suggest?
We're making our very first foray to La Crosse this weekend and would like to meet with as many caterers as possible. Thus far we have appointments at Kate's on State and Traditions in Onalaska. Help fill out our schedule!
