Just got back from Watercress (22nd and Valencia) and wow, did I have a great meal!
Tonight I had the salmon tartare, which was yummy and beautifully presented, drizzled with soy and a light wasabe (?) sauce. Next was a sole dish to die for - enfused with a lovely savory flavor and encrusted with a delicious hazelnut type of crust. I topped off the meal with their cheesecake, a small medallion of creamy delight with a carmelized crunchy topping served on top of some carmelized walnuts, fresh berries,and a chocolate cookie drop. All this - for $19.95! I went to Delfina earlier this week for the first time and while it was good, I have to say that I enjoyed the food at Watercress more, and at a fraction of the price. The waitstaff was charming and very attentive with their cute french accents.
This experience definitely topped my last visit, a few months back. Apparently they are under new management/have a new chef and the secret is out - the place was packed all night long!
