Just wanted to share the awful experience I had last night with Wasabi Boy... it's on Jackson Ave in LIC.
I am always a little skeptical when I get sushi from a new place (or at least one that i haven't heard many reviews from) but Wasabi Boy is close by, delivers, and seemed worth at least an evaluation. We ordered a couple of sushi platters for takeout one sushi deluxe and one roll combination -- and waited while they were made, (didn't want to chance delivery on the first visit).
The yellowtail and tuna maki seemed a little fishy, and the texture of the fish seemed a bit off on the regular sushi we had -- trying to be open minded (yes, i know this is not sushi yasuda or tomoe or even yama) I took a few more bites, and for the first time in the 10-15 years I've been eating sushi, encountered a piece of bone in my yellowtail roll. Not just a thin piece of bone you might stumble across in a filet, but a hard, piece, about 1/3 of an inch by 1/2 an inch. We stopped eating right there, and tossed the rest of the food.
I don't know if maybe we just caught them on an off night, but just thinking about the meal makes my stomach feel queasy. Has anyone had a similar or even better, a good experience at Wasabi Boy? I think it's the only sushi that delivers in our neighborhood, so it's quite a disappointment -- does anyone have any close by recommendations?
