wanted a foie gras burger but had quesadilla de pompano....

I had yesterday off and was debating what to have for lunch - most of my weekend choices had missed the marked. Realized I hadn't been to d'artangan (sp?) and had a foie gras burger this summer - only to get there to find out their closed on mondays for the month of august.

I decided to go back to Pompano on 49th & 3rd and do a $20.03 lunch. Started by ordering an additonal appetizer - the tuna ceviche. NIce - tangy, tart - a little too much cilantro and not enough mango but nicely chilled. Order the quesadilla de pompano - swordfish and oaxaca cheese with crema, salsa verder, salsa roja and black bean puree with a sprinkling of cotoja (sp?) cheese - this dish hit the bull's eye directly - really really good. For entree had salmon with a piloncillo glaze with white corn and chayote. The chayote had great flavor and the salmon was well prepared. For desert had the soaked corn cake with coconut ice cream and hibiscus sause - very good. The soaked corn cake was warm and was a noc compliment to the coconut ice cream. Had a really nice balanced, well rounded glass of white sauvigon blanc by Greisen, New Zealand - I'm not much of a white wine dinker but really liked this. My first visit I had tried their margaritas and was disappointed - didn't have one this time.

ONly mistake - the desert I order was not part of the 20.03 so I was charged per plate - my total turned out to be $3 more than if I had been charged 20.03 plus additonal app and wine.
