Walla Walla Lunch Find

John Maltman | May 9, 2002 10:42 AM

Last weekend we spent a fantastic time at the Walla Walla spring tasting. One thing that surprised me was that the Walla Walla Valley appelation goes into Oregon. We were investigating a vinyard on the Oregon side, and asked where we should go have lunch.

The enthusiastic response was "The Taco Wagon at stateline." This little spot was some of the best food I have ever had. (Might be short lived as we have reservations at Mistral for this Saturday).

I had a chicken burrito that was fantastic. Others in our party had qusedias that were perfect, A hunk of roasted Pork that we all fought over, Some had tacos, and a very brave soul had a tripe burrito.

Sitting outside, eating off of picnic tables under the shade of some overhanging trees, wonderful smells coming from the grill. It was so perfect. The Gals who ran the place were very freindly and accomidating.

All in all it was a teriffic find. Highly recomended. The location is truly on the WA/OR border at a crossing called "stateline" it is one stoplight west of the main road that goes from Walla Walla to Milton Freewater. Its about 10 minutes from downtown walla walla.

Cheers
John
