I was able to get a dinner reservation at Babbo, but it's for 10:45 pm, and is a lot later than my guest, visiting New York, cares to enjoy a nice meal. So we're thinking instead of trying our luck for a walk-in table. Does Babbo have any unreserved tables or otherwise try and accomodate walk-ins? This would be on a Monday night, what would our chances be if we came by early, say 6:00? I know some restaurants' unreserved tables are right in the bar, and at popular places can be unpleasant, like trying to have dinner in a mosh pit -- is this the case at Babbo? Lastly, if we do try walking-in at Babbo and find the wait too onerous, what alternatives are there in the nearby neighborhood?
Oh -- and I'm just curious -- but has any mere mortal actually gotten a reservation at Babbo for 8:00 p.m.?
Thanks to all chowhounders for their suggestions.
