I was VERY disappointed but then again...I expected to be. Very rarely do you find actual good New Orleans food anywhere away from the LA or MS area. But I thought I would give it a try. First, let me explain why I expected to be disappointed...the entire time I lived in the LA area, I never ate N.O. BBQ...just not a regional dish if you know what I mean.
I started off with the gumbo. I knew I would be able to tell if the food was going to be anywhere close to good N.O. food by the gumbo......$5 for a very small dish which I would have gladly paid if there had been good sausage or seafood involved...nope, either one. The sausage tasted...well..... old is about the only way I can describe it. Plus....very salty!!! Salt does not always cover a multitude of sins!
I will say this positive note, I had a shrimp po-boy and the shrimp was actually fairly good...not over-breaded which is the problem with most restaurant fried shrimp. Other then that, I can't say it was great, it was alright but not great or even very good.
I hate that I was disappointed. I would love to find a good NO place to eat in the upstate!! But I doubt I will bother to go back there again. If you are not familiar with how NO food should really taste, then you might not mind this place but I guess I am a food snob in certain areas and that is one of them!
