My friend and I are students who will be visiting Montreal for the first time from New York City and were wondering about restaurant recommendations. We're basically looking for solid, imaginative French food (both bistro and more haute-cuisine) using local ingredients for a moderate price. In New York, a standard "good" meal runs about 40-50 US$ per person (3-course, with a glass of wine), so I'm looking to spend in that ballpark.
Upon quick perusal of the board, a couple places jumped out: Au pied de Cochon, Le Club des Pins, and Le P'tit Plateau, but some of the posts were a bit old. Are these places still good? Are there others that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance for all your help! We're really looking forward to the trip.
