I frequently see posts from people visiting Boston who are looking for guidance on eating here. These people frequently come from other big cities and are into the restaurant scene, which is why they know about chowhound in the first place.
there should be a thread that points out the restaurants that are unique to Boston which might interest visitors from other big cities. There are many good restaurants in Boston for which there are better equivalents in other cities so...
My short list, in no particular order:
Tamarind Bay - which has an unusual menu not really seen elsewhere
Helmand - an unusual cuisine, Afganistani,
Craigie on Main - new American but very personal
East Ocean and Peach tree in Chinatown - excellent fish in the tank, Chinese restaurants
Neptune - Boston seafood
Alive and Kicking Seafood - lobster sandwiches
