We are two adults from Vancouver, BC, Canada. I am visiting Ireland for the very first time, and will be staying with some family near Skibbereen.
I'd like to treat our hosts to a meal during our 5 day stay, as well as cooking for them at least once.
Any recommendations for an informal dinner location, pref. with some gluten-free-friendly options. I am completely unfamiliar with the dining culture in Ireland, and wonder whether, as someone who doesn't eat wheat or other processed grains very often, I'm going to be in dire straits. I am not allergic, nor celiac, but at home I avoid milled grains due to digestive issues. Pasta in Italy, and bread in Spain, OTOH, have been fine.
Are there any must-visit food or kitchenware destinations in the region? I think I'll be stopping at Waterford enroute from Dublin.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
