Since there isn't a comprehensive review of Vino Rosina on here I thought I'd add one. My wife and I took friends from Chicago here on Friday night and it was excellent.
We started with various infused martinis which were all excellent (2 pear, a plum, and another that escapes me).
Dishes that we ordered were all good to excellent or outstanding. The menu on their site hasn't been updated so some of these will be descriptions rather than actual menu names.
Rabbit & Waffles - This was incredible. A pile of shredded rabbit meat on a waffle that has just the hint of maple syrup. If there was a bit more waffle it would have been perfect considering the pile of rabbit you get. But truly outstanding.
Mac & Cheese with jalapenos, chorizo, and artisan cheese. Had a very good flavor and was well thought out, but it's nothing too innovative.
Brussels Sprouts with bacon. Perfectly cooked again, very good.
Shrimp with capers. This was excellent as well. 3 jumbo prawns perfectly cooked that had a little bit of zing to them topped with the tiniest capers. A perfect flavor.
Scallops with Parsnip puree and pancetta. 3 very large diver scallops, again perfectly executed and complemented nicely by the parsnip and pancetta. Another excellent dish.
Kobe Tartare with quail egg, pickles, mustard. This was a standout but not much to say about it. Delicious.
Tofu "parm" gets my surprise of the night award. They must have pressed the tofu for a long time to get it so firm and dry then baked it with very good marinara, cheese, and breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs gave it a very good texture. Excellent execution.
Magret Duck Breast I remember it being very good, but nothing to make me write something other than that.
Considering the amount of food and drinks we had, it was a reasonable amount of money for 4 people. This was our second time there and we will certainly be going back. Hip, lively setting with excellent food. Our server was also excellent unlike a recent post by another CHer.
