we have not eaten here for like ten years, but went for brunch today (afte seeing 'team america world police' in the am first show--hilarious movie).

i had rare beef tenderloin, potato gallete and scrambled eggs ($15). very attractively plated, perfectly rare beef, and deliciously rich potatos. our other dish was hash potatos, smokey cheese grits and poached eggs ($12). i did not care for that style of grits but evrything was otherwise very tasty. oh yeah, it went well with a beck's beer -- haha!

V&E's still seems a nice solid place after all these years. the service is perfect. they also have a couple non-intrusive string musicians for brunch and a roaring fireplace which was nice. not inexpensive, but was only half full at 1pm so that's good to keep in mind.
