I noticed a "grand opening" sign for a new Vietnamese restaurant on N. Roxboro St. in Durham (at the intersection with Murray Ave., near Museum of Life and Science). I had the kidlett with me and couldn't stop to eat, but I ran in and grabbed a copy of the menu. The overall vibe is similar to every hole-in-the wall Vietnamese restaurant you've ever been to. The menu features various different stir-fry dishes with your choice of meat, Bún (vermicelli noodle dishes), Phở, noodle soups, the expected assortment of appetizers (fresh spring rolls, crepes, etc.), and a number of exotic specialties ("Rabbit marinate in special fermented tofu," and "eel and vegetables to be cooked tableside in a hot pot," for example). And yes, they have Bánh Mì. They also have a number of drinks that sound interesting ("basil seed drink," "dried logan sweet drink"). Like I said, I didn't have time to try it, and probably won't for the next several weeks, so if anyone has a chance to check it out I would love a report.
