After so many postive mentions of Vert's moule frites, I went there last night for a casual dinner. Pretty disapointing overall. Moules frites were sub-par. The shoestring frites were fine, but not outstanding, and many mussels were extremely fishy-tasting. To the credit of my waitress (and the establishment) when asked about them, I mentioned the off flavor and she immediately offered to take them back. I kept them, as I was enjoying them more than my companion, but it was just a bit of a Russian Roulette as to which would be sweet and delicious and which would taste like the smell of the Long Beach docks.
Bread basket was good, but not outstanding, the caesar salad was very nice, but I did not detect any anchovies... Gnocchi with gorganzola was delicious, and as it cooled the gnocchi themselves started to stand out more.
Looking back over other reviews, I see people speaking highly of the roast chicken and osso bucco. The pork chop at the next table over looked great, but I have to say, if I want some roasted meat, I'll head to Ca'Brea in the future.
