any downtown d.c. workers remember a delightful little greasy hole in the wall named Vermont Pizza & Restaurant? it was on vermont, just north of K.
many a saturday morning i spent, from middle thru high school, sitting in the sparse dining room watching cartoons and chomping on cheap pancakes and bacon, eggs, all sorts of stuff. never did try their pizza, as i was only there while my dad worked overtime in his office nearby.
the last time i was in there, it was a lovely saturday morning, and the construction workers from nearby sites and i sat entranced, watching live as congress voted to impeach then-president Clinton. an experience i'll never forget. i'll also never forget the friendly cook and the old greek couple who had owned the place since god knows when.
just trying to share a trip down memory lane. anyone want to join? i know chowhounding is usually about finding the best eats, but sometimes good memories mean just as much.
let me know! ta ta.
