1st Course: Frisee Salad
poached egg, bacon lardon, croutons, roasted garlic vinaigrette
wine pairings: La Tordera Prosecco Brut, Veneto & Reinhard Knebel Riesling 2005, Mosel
2nd Course: Curried Lentil Soup
green lentils, bacon, potato, coconut creme fraiche (this was to die for & the knife skills were great)
wine pairings: Jekel Gewurztraminer 2005 Monterey & Cantine barbera Insolia 2005 Sicily
3rd Course: Tempura Nori wrapped tuna
yellowfin tuna, nicoise "slaw", citrus soy vinaigrette
wine pairings: Avinyo Cava Rosato Brut, Spain & Paco & Lola Albarino 2007, Rias Baias
Entree: Duo of Texas Beef Steak Frites (beef coullotte, sauce bernaise) & Hoisin Braised Short Ribs (fresh horseradish mashed potatoes, honey glazed carrots, soy lacquered pearl onions)
wine pairings: Kim Crawford Estate Pinot Noir 2007, New Zealand (the crowd favorite) & JRE "Tradition" Zinfandel 2005, Ca
Desert: "Candy Bar"
chocolate flourless cake, caramel coated peanuts, chocolate mousse, dark chocolate sorbet
wine pairing: Rosa Regale Brachetto d' Acqui 2007, Italy
What an amazing feast and the service and place settings were top notch.
We had our own personal sommelier that explained each wine and how it complimented the food; several waiters and a finale visit by the the chef instructor.
Truly one of my most memorable and pleasant meals in Austin.
