Still roaming around down south....and since they were coming back from vacation in August we swung back through Patagonia to try it.
Indeed very good. They make a delicious whole wheat crust...probably the bestWW crust we've had anywhere(note: all pizzas here are whole wheat). Whole pizzas run $22 but since we were there for lunch and traveling we went with the slices for $7. You can order any of the pizzas "by the slice" - which is really a miniature pizza made to order.
We started with the Hearts for Blue salad....hearts of Romaine, high quality bleu cheese, curry roasted pecans, apple slices and homemade blue cheese dressing. The dressing was really good - not gloppy at all but thinner with a bit of dill in it. The salad was served with a fresh out of the oven homemade whole wheat roll.
The pizzas were as good as the reputation that precedes them. I had an Ein Kertoffle which had roasted well seasoned baked potatoes, roasted in house bell peppers(get something wiht the bell peppers! YUM!), green onion, smoked gouda and some mozzerella with their red sauce. I don't normally like pizza sauce a lot and was focused on the potatoes when I ordered this so missed the sauce...that said it was very good red sauce with just the right amount of "zesty."
Husband had the tuco's revenge because he wanted anchovies. This had anchovies, capers, garlic, red onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and mozzerella with red sauce. Again very good...just the right amount of anchovies without being too much.
We both had the limonada rosa which is a hisbiscus tea with fresh lime. Delicious and refreshing.
Portions are more than generous. Neither of us finished our slices and never really got around to dinner last night as lunch really held us all day. The quality of the ingredients was really high and fresh...this was definitely some of the best food we had down in this part of the state so it's easily understandable why they have the reputation they do both with tourists and locals...the place was packed with locals happy their vacation was over when we were there. The owners are very friendly and have created a very warm and hospitable environment.
Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through this part of the state. We're looking forward to getting abck someday and trying some of the other menu items(including hte homemade soups!)
Total bill for two slices, a salad and two drinks $29.
