Did a quick little get away for vegas for 2 days.... here is a brief little summary of our trip
Had lunch at chin chins at NYNY... been there several times before, and again a good choice for a quick lunch of potsticker, buns and peanut noodles
YUMMM!!!!!! Hubby and I love this place. Had the salmon carpaccio which it fantastic. the goat cheese stuffed figs wrapped in proscuitto w/ balsamic glaze on a bed of pesto was to die for insane. BBQ also another good choice. Hubby and I always forgot how much we love the appetizers, but by the time we get to the entree, it is too much and barely eat much of it. So hubby had the scallops. Slightly dissapointed since they have changed their preparation and is now served with mushrooms. Not as good as the beurre blanc sauce with panchetta and parsnip puree. I had the crispy bass. It was okay, but not something I would order again. Next time we are deteremined to stick to the plan of just 2 appetizers and then dessert (especially the goat cheese cheesecake!)
Had dinner there before seeing Spamalot (which was fantastic). It was okay. Had the tableside caesar salad. Not the best, but also not the worst wehave had. Just seemed to need more flavor (acidity, cheese, and more than the 2 crutons we each got). I had the beef tips and scallops. Quite delicious, but very rich and could have easily split it between the two. I loved the sauce of walnuts, bacon and some gorgonzola with a red wine glaze to go with the beef, but felt it was too much for the overcooked scallops. Hubby had the steak a la oscar which was quite good. Just felt it was okay, but might have been able to do better elsewhere.
Hubby and I had lunch there, but hubby went earlier in the week without me and splurged (ala expense account). His first trip he had the Kobe beef burger. He stated that it was quite good. But on our visit togther (no expense account) he had the regular burger, which he then acknowledged was okay, but that the Kobe burger was much better and he prefered it. I had the angus burger which was really good. I also had the onion rings which were great. Place was crowded, but we were able to eat at the bar right away versus the 30 minute wait for the table.
