Upstairs over Makoto

I have always enjoyed getting takeout sushi from the places that have been upstairs over Makoto on Macarthur Blvd. First there was Ivy's, which eventually shut, and then its successor went out of business early this July.

So it was with a great deal of anticipation that I saw a new name on a newly opened shop. I am pleased to report that my high expectations did not lead to disappointment. The sushi is fresh and excellent. Great toro, impressive yellowtail, terrific unagi. The rice is fresh and soft. Also, the interior now has a real sushi bar, and while not exactly an interior deisgner's dream, it's certainly nice enough to eat in.

The new place is called Kotobuki. The owner apparently moved his establishment from 1315 Old Chain Bridge Road in McLean to this location (the old address is still on the chopstick wrappers). Anyone know its prior incarnation?

I see they already have a website (although alot is still under construction).
