Still working out some kinks (pacing, ordering, what's available) but the food is very good...couple areas could be better but all around very good.
Four people ordered the below (for scientific purposes, not gluttony) and all tried a little bit of everything:
Smoked Chicken Dinner w/ Cajun Corn & Potato Salad
Ribs & Links w/ Collard Greens and Potato Salad
Ribs & Brisket w/ Potato Salad
Fried Catfish & Wings w/ Yams and Collard Greens
They were out of cole slaw, baked beans and dessert (not that we actually tried to order dessert...that would have been pure gluttony ;)).
Collard Greens: were my favorite, although they could have used a little more smokey ham hock flavor.
Yams: while good, were very cinnamony...I don't like cinnamon at all...everyone else *really* liked them.
Potato Salad: wasn't too mayo"y" & gloopy...very good. Nice balace of flavors and eggyness.
Cajan Corn: while frozen or canned, was the all around favorite. Great flavor w/ a spicy kick at the end.
Smoked Chicken (1/2): very good, tender, great smoke flavor...on the dry side. Didn't stop any of us.
Ribs & Links: ribs, ah the ribs...tender, fall off the bone, juicy, smokey...all that ribs should be.
Links, while getting so-so reviews previously, was again, one of our favorites...would have been better if we asked for the spicy bbq sauce instead of the regular.
Brisket: was dry. Good smoke and meaty flavor but dry.
Catfish: consenses was this was the best main. Not oily or overcooked...simply dredged in cornmeal with no muddy flavor. So good, not sure how I'll be able to order anything else.
Wings: fine...but thats it, just fried wings...not worth the calories for me.
They rotate the soups on a weekly basis. Am thinking if I get an order of collard greens and cup of soup, can eat there more than once a year without risk to my health. :)
