Best unagi in manhattan?

I feel like i've never experienced any truly great unagi sushi (or unagi don) anywhere in the city. Usually the eel is mushy, fishy and seemingly re-heated and the sauce tastes like BBQ out of a bottle. Ideally, for me, the eel should be fresh and freshly cooked with a with charred, crispy exterior, and a hot, moist interior, lightly sauced and seasoned, and paired with perfect sushi rice.

So (with price no object, although deals are always welcomed) where can I find the best Unagi nigiri or unagi don?
