Udipi Palace continues to improve. The dosai are terrific (along with my usual favorite, onion rava dosa, I especially liked the Palak dosa), and the bhel puri is always a hit. The vadai and iddlies are fine, but not on a par with the late Mavali Palace's.
The big news is that the curries, always the weak spot at Udipi Palace, seem to be on a big upswing. The palak paneer was excellent and malai kofta was almost as good.
The service remains friendly, accommodating, and hopeless. But that's part of the place's charm -- just don't go to U.P. when you are in a rush.
