I hesitated posting another trip report of the same restaurants we all flock to, but I'll be very brief, since you were all such a help to us.
Best food of the trip: Me - Lunch at Spring (fantastic from start to finish, I'm still dreaming of the white asparagus in the lobster broth with the toasted buckwheat sprinkled on top); Daughter - dinner at Chez l'Ami Jean (best morels of the trip, second best asparagus, best dessert rice pudding)
Best food experience of the trip: Both - Lunch at Le Cinq
(Runner-up is the Paris by Mouth food tour of the 6th)
Worst food of the trip: Me - La Rotonde; Daughter - L'as du Falafel (though neither was awful - we had no real clunkers at all on the trip)
Most American experience: Both - Frenchie (but very delicious)
Most surprising food: Both: Unexpected very good meal at Le Garde Robe (we went after going to the Louvre on Friday night, thinking it would be just charcuterie, etc., but they had a full menu and it was very good).
Best late night snack after a large lunch: L'Avant Comptoir for charcuterie, croquettas, etc., and great bread and butter
Worst Service: CJD, inattentive but not rude. We thought the cassoulet was even better than the beef bourg, and peering at my neighbor's plate, I had wished I'd ordered the pigeon millefuille.
Best single dish of the trip - Both: we added a foie gras appetizer to our 3-course lunch menu at Le Cinq. At 75 Euro, thankfully, it was huge and there was plenty to share. It was made with strawberries and rubarb (I believe) and it was heavenly. Picture attached.
A wonderful trip all around. Even the weather was not as bad as predicted. We're already thinking about our next trip! Thanks again.
