Traxx Report

Rae | Apr 28, 2006 12:30 PM

Met my son at Union Station yesterday after work and went to Traxx before his train left. We got there at their opening time, 5:30 and there was what looked like a wine & cheese party going on at a section of the tables that spill out into the station. We had no reservations but since we were the first ones there no problem getting a table – by the door which gave us plenty of people watching opportunities.

We decided to try their Traxx Martini which is a martini with a splash of Dubonnet. I rarely drink martinis so I’m no expert but I liked it. My son, not so much so I drank his too!

The bread basket held slices of cold sourdough bread with a dish of cold hard butter. Maybe since it was early they had just brought the bread out of the fridge. In any case nothing special about it.

He had a train to catch so we didn’t get appetizers. He ordered the pork loin chop with mission fig polenta and spinach. The chop was tender, delicious and a nice size. The polenta was cut into triangles and I guess pan fried a little – had NO flavor! I was a sucker for the fennel scented prawns with asparagus and shitake risotto. I got 5 little shrimp for $27. The risotto was ok.

2 martini’s, 1 soda, 2 mains = $74 before tip. The chop was worth it the prawns not.
