Traveling with teens: want excellent food, "unstuffy" atmosphere

We are traveling to Montreal for 5 days with 2 younger teens. They are used to travel (Europe several times, NYC, etc.) but we find our happiest meals are those where we find a restaurant that has top-notch food, decent wine, yet a comfortable atmosphere (no stuffy waiters hovering overhead.) The kids then feel free to be themselves, and my husband and I can savor our delicious food and wine. Any restaurant suggestions appreciated. particularly those in an area where the kids could step outside and wander a block or two together while my husband and I linger over dinner ( if there are neighborhoods where that is safe enough for a 13 and 14 year old boy and girl.) We are staying in the Centreville area, but are willing to go most anywhere for a good experience. We love neighborhood "finds" too--the atmospshere need not be "fancy" at all. We are most interested in the quality of the food. Thanks!
