Arrived yesterday early afternoon - stopped at Fanizzi's for a quick bite. Nice view from the bar of the sand and ocean... had my usual fried shrip and a caprese salad. Both were very good ... on to the Mews for dinner. Ordered the skirt steak with scallops - bread pudding with mushrooms. The scallops were great, the steak horrible. Tough and full of gristle -even though I ordered it medium rare, inedible. Too bad, as I've had many a good meal here. The other half ordered pork medallions over garlic mashed. He enjoyed it, no toughness with his dish.
Ross' Cafe for lunch - quiet and sedate. Ordered a grilled shrimp caesar - excellent. My husband got a grilled chicken on a bagette with pesto and grilled red pepper. He opted for the white bean salad instead of fries. A nice choice!
We did stop at Napi's for a wine and an appetizer. Napi was at the bar, and suggested we try the crab cakes. Now, for someone who never eats seafood, he left nothing. They had to be good! They were served with a traditional ailoi with capers. Napi said they had been serving them with thinly sliced radishes in a vinagrette. He got the kitchen to send some out with the crab cakes... it was delicious! Nice texture with the seafood. Hope to have it again.
Not sure about where we will go tonight - but will post something about it.
