We used to go to Toto di Notte in Encino (on Ventura, between Sepulveda and Haskell) about once a week. Their pastas were terrific, bread was incredible and the prices were right. We also got a kick out of Emilio, the owner of the restaurant. (We had been regulars since Toto's first location - on Sepulveda near Zankou Chicken).
We hadn't visited the restaurant for a little while, then one day, noticed some exterior changes in the place. On our way in, we ran into another couple of "regulars" who mentioned Emilio sold the restaurant and there was a new owner. We peeked in, looked at the "new" menu, and weren't too impressed. Within a few weeks, "Toto" was gone and replaced with a new restaurant.
We heard Emilio now manages or is involved with Rio on Ventura in Encino but we were wondering if anyone knows if Emilio's wife (sorry don't know her name) is cooking anywhere locally. She was the chef at Toto and made some of our favorite, memorable dishes. Needless to say, we miss her cooking.
Has anyone heard of them trying to reopen in a new location? Any news would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
