Went there yesterday around 5:30 PM and had the Tortas Cubanas. Ah...while it was a very good sandwich, great ingredients, very large - it just wasn't a cuban sandwich. From some of the reviews mentioning that it was pressed, it got the impression that I was finally finding the real deal (by the way, I use to live in Tampa, FL and actually worked in a sandwich shop in Ybor City that sold authentic Cuban sandwiches). Sorry. It's is not an real cuban. It is a Mexican spin on what is suppose to resemble a cuban. Think Zante's Indian spin on what is a pizza. I'm not saying it was bad, on the contrary, the place was busy with all sorts of neighborhood folks popping in and out, getting to go and eating there. I just wanted to clarify the cuban sandwich part for those of us ex-Floridians and Cuban-Americans.
Below is a link describing a real Cuban sandwich.
Oh, and by the way, please do go and have the cuban at Tortas Los Picudos, it was very good.
