Encouraged by the amount of responses to someone's post about Tres Leches, I thought I'd see if any readers might know where to find a more obscure Latin American desert. Torta Chilena is a dry, rich, and filling cake with alternate layers of dulce de leche and a sort of puff pastry/shortbread, covered with turron.
Torta Chilena is common in Central America - I've seen it in Guatemala and Costa Rica. I have no idea if its common in Chile.
Has anyone seen this anywhere in LA?
