Stopped in for a quick lunch at Tom Can Cook on Moody St., Waltham. Restaurants that "specialize" in a whole range of Asian cooking, here Thai, Japanese, Chinese, always make me worry about whether they really can do that many styles of cooking well, but must admit was pleased with lunch. The crazy noodles had great anise flavor and plenty of chili bite (OK not enough for Galleygirl, but hey, I thought the two chilies notation in the margin of the menu about right.) Lemon chicken featured little pieces of chicken done tempura style, with lots of fresh veggies, in a lovely tart sauce. Only minor complaint was that I could have eaten about three times the amount of chicken in the dish! Yes, a lunch portion, but still....
Clean, pretty spot, pleasant jazz music, plus very helpful and prompt service.
The other "issue" for me, is that there is a lunch menu which applies M-F but if you wish to lunch on the weekends, you are obliged to order from the more expensive dinner menu. I understand the finacial reasoning behind this policy, but can't say I like it. In fact, I put off trying Tom Can Cook because of it. Other hounds?
