One (two, actually) of the things I miss since leaving the Bay Area are the Tung Kee Noodle chain, and inexpensive Vietnamese deli food. TK offers large bowls of wonderful noodle soups with a clear, flavorful chicken broth and an assortment of meats and vegetables, all for the princely sum of $3-$4. This is a shot in the dark, but I'll ask anyways: is there anything remotely similar in the greater L.A. area? The South Bay (where I'm located) is barren as far as Vietnamese goes, and Little Saigon is just too far for me.
As far as deli food goes, I'm primarily looking for freshly made soy milk and soy-based custard (in Mandarin it's pronounced something like "dou-hwa"). I've searched the archives and I know that finding banh mi is out of the question, so I won't even ask about that.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
