Timo Restaurant Sunny Isles

Based upon recs from this site, I took a friend to Timo in Sunny Isles Saturday night and it didn't go too well. Perhaps a better way to work through the menu is to have a few small plates from the appetizer list and a pizza or a salad - but the entrees were pricey and (gah!!) tasted reheated!

I ordered the duck entree - a fan of little slices of too cooked or reheated duck breast meat over a confit of duck bits and a crisp slice of bread (kind of cold toast) covered with a duck liver spread the color and consistency of melted peanut butter. Honestly? I suspect a microwave was employed here... The duck skin was still attached and blubbery instead of properly lean and crisp.

My guest ordered the chicken entree which was roasted on the bone and served over mashed potatoes and a little veggie stack called "lasagna" on the menu. He said, "this tastes home made..." and when I asked if that was a good thing, he smiled and said, "well, it tastes like I made it..."

He doesn't cook.

The good bits?

*Crisp sort of pie crust tasting bread sticks in the basket of commercial bread - everyone around us was picking them out and abandoning the rest.

*A very well composed wine list with great options by the glass.

*Dessert - a molten chocolate cupcake served with banana ice cream.

Can someone tell me what they've ordered here that merits a second visit? I'd go back for a drink and a snack at the bar if I'm in the area - but perhaps not a full meal again...

The check for 2 was $120 including tip.
