I was near enough today to have lunch at Doug's Barbecue in Half Noon Bay. It's been open a year and this was my first time there. I had a two-way with ribs and brisket, beans and slaw, and everything was very good. The smoke flavor was on the light side, the ribs in particular had very good flavor and good texture, the brisket maybe less flavor with very good texture and good dark ends. I had the mild sauce which was a very good version of my favorite type (molasses for some sweetening). The beans ditto (molasses again) and the slaw a light mayo type with a distinct tang of vinegar. I'd put Doug's right up there with Memphis Minnie's for quality. Maybe I still prefer MM's, but if so it's just personal preference, not quality or "realness" of the barbecue.
