Thoughts about my dining adventures last week.

Just got back...had some fantastic, and not so fantastic food. Here are some quick thoughts:

DOCG: The food and service here was actually better than I thought it was going to be. From excellent salads, to crisp, well made pizzas, to their homemade pastas, this place was a hit from everyone (six people) I was with.

Lunch at Milos: Still the best bargain in town: One caveat: The wait staff tries to up sell you on everything off the menu...including the wine. My GF order a extra simple tomato salad, and the charged us $27.00!!!! for it. The whole three course menu is $19.90!

Raku: We were booked for the Omakase at Raku. Upon arrival, they couldn't find my reservation (even though I gave them their own confirmation #). After a little coaxing, they found us not only a table, but a private room in the back (where we had the Kasaiki dinner on our last trip). All I can say is this, I've been to Raku at least a dozen times and love this place. The service last Monday night was abysmal at best. A minimum of 20, 25 minutes between courses was just unacceptable. Our waitress, was extremely apoligetic, but she did the best she could. Maybe the head chef is off on Mondays. We had a three and a half hour dinner that shouldn't have taken more that two hours. A bit disenchanting!

Lotus of Siam: Another stop we make every trip: The food continues to be outstanding. We ordered the special lobster, which is a five pound, deep fried with salt, pepper and garlic....OUTSTANDING!! They crack it so well, all you have to do is choose your piece and eat it. Other amazing dishes were the crispy duck with drunken noodles and the veggie larb. This is one restaurant that just doesn't rest on it's's phenominal!

Delmonicos: We hadn't been here a a while...It's still outstanding! Great, attentive service, and the star: The bone in rib eye, perfectly cooked to med/ of the best steaks in a long time.

Lastly, Pho Kim Long...a Vegas tradtion for me...we go for breakfast one day each trip....nothing like their Pho and Summer Rolls after a hard Vegas night....Yummmmm
