I'm trying to avoid mass quantities of chips, cheeses, veggies and dips before the already gluttonous feast. I think I've come up with an inexpensive and interesting alternative pre-meal snack, flavored popcorn.
So far I've got three flavors I think will work: 1.Chinese Five Spice Kettle Corn-your traditional kettle corn recipe with 5 spice powder and salt 2.Sour Cream and Onion-as simple as powdered buttermilk and onion powder maybe some chives and salt 3.Shrimp Corn-might sound a little strange but how well do shrimp and corn go together? Thinking of grinding dried shrimp and salt and that's it.
I think having something delicious to snack on without filling up before dinner will be a success. Anyone have experience with these flavors? Any other suggestions? While brainstorming I came up with some interesting ideas: mac & cheese, ranch, bacon, sweet & sour, fennel kettle corn..... let me know what you think.
