Thai Austin - Forest Hills Lunch Review

Located at 70-15 (Downstairs) Austin St across from Movie Theatre. Nice atmosphere, food, music and service. The waitress described the food as Classic versus Sripraphai which she either said was more authentic or traditional Thai food. I had the Thai Austin Soup which is ground chicken shaped like a small meat ball with soft tofu and asian vegetable in clear broth soup which was very good. For the main course I had the Priew Warn Tilapia which is broiled filet talapia, pineapple, cucumber, onion, scallion & tomato. It was very good and fresh tasting. This was not a lunch portion. It was a large portion served on a large round 12" plate that was nicely presented. It's a bit sweet but not overly sweet. I had the most expensive lunch and well worth $9. Someone nearby was raving about the chicken Panang curry which is served in a bowl rather than a plate. I had the warm Thai Pumpkin Custard for dessert (oh, so good). They also serve frozen drinks like Mango, Pineapple, etc. On the regular menu the Andaman Noodles Soup seems very interesting. Next visit for lunch I may have this and a salad which are interesting like the Papaya Pok Pok Salad since I don't need all that rice for lunch. Soon the neighborhood will have 4 Thai restaurant all nearby. The 4th one is opening next month around the corner at 70th Road.
