Tennessee's BBQ revisted

Hi All,

I just wanted to drop a note here to see why Tennessee's BBQ (multiple locations) seems to get a really bad rap. I have had several meals from Tennessee's (in Peabody)and found them completely satisfying if not quite excellent.

For reference, I've not not tried all of the true Boston BBQ joints, but have tried RedBones and Blue Ribbon... I *loved* Blue Ribbon (great smoked meats and even better homemade sauces) but was unimpressed with Redbones (I thought the meats were very dry and the sauces mediocre). I'm dying to try Uncle Pete's!

So, I think Tennessee's is quite good. I've had the Memphis Ribs (great), Brisket (pretty good... could be charred more, but not bad), smoked/hot chicken wings (could be spicier, but excellent), pulled pork,
and their Caribbean Jerk Chicken Burrito (very tasty).

I also think their sides are quite good.... mashed potatoes with gravy, cucumber salad, cornbread, and especially the collard greens (smokey and spiced with red pepper flakes).

Their weakest offering?? The BBQ sauces offered on the side... adequate at best (bottled??).

So, with the exception of those few true classic BBQ joints in the Boston area, I'd hit Tennessee's way before even considering Famous Dave's or any of the chains (and perhaps.... gasp!... Redbones).

So please correct the errors of my way!

Cheers...

Gusman

PS. A 24oz draft Tennessee's Ale... made by Ipswich Brewery... for $4.00... to go with the meal is quite nice as well!
