For those of you who don't know already, Sally's "The Tea Leaf" is an excellent afternoon tea place that also doubles as a great place for conversation, sipping, relaxing, etc.
But we wanted to bring up something that is a bit surprising to us. Sally has also been suggesting other tea places in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. You see, the number of tea places has dropped to the point where they are now banding together to try and save this form of eating out. For those who have not experienced "afternoon tea", please give it a shot.
It's hard to say why the business is starting to struggle, but what it comes down to is that a lot of the entrepreneurs have retired or have moved. Only a couple have not attracted enough business. Some have gotten some bad publicity (Only God knows why the Phantom Gourmet gave Antiquiteas in Salem NH such a lousy review.)
So while looking for a restful quiet "pretty" place to have a family outing or reunion (or something similar), please consider a local tea room; these places may be just what you're looking for.
