Tasting menu for an anniversary dinner?

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I are celebrating our first anniversary and I'm in charge of picking out a nice restaurant for us.

Ideally I would like:
- someplace that will do a tasting menu
- good food, any cuisine
- to spend no more than $200 for two (food, tax, tip, and maybe even a glass of wine each)
- a beautiful interior, a romantic atmosphere, and a little bit of personality beyond just an ultra-formal dining room
- a shorter rather than longer drive. We're coming from the inland empire so I know a long-ish drive is unavoidable.. but if at all possible, I'd like to minimize the time spent driving and maximize the time spent eating.

We'd like to celebrate this Sat. so we'd have to make our reservations rather last minute.

Thank you in advance .. I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
