After a fabulous plate of nachos at Taqueria La Mexicana this afternoon (freshly fried chips make the dish), we had a long chat with taco Bob, the owner. He has purchased the building from his previous landlord and is currently renovating the space next door, the former and unlamented (by me and most of the neighbors anyway) Irish Eyes bar. He took us on a tour of the construction. It's a big space and he's planning on opening an 80 seat dining room with a full bar (can you say margaritas? Bob can) when the work is done in November or December. The kitchen will expand a bit into the current dining room and that side of the restaurant will remain open for take out business. Bob's super nice, and he and his wife turn out fantastic chow. Go in and chat with him and I'm sure he'll be happy to show you his expansion plans too.
Perhaps a chow excursion will be in order when the dining room opens. I for one am very excited.
