We didn't make it to Ybor until Sunday night. We ended up at the Columbian. They were great in accomodating our group. The food was awesome, I went for broke and got the Paella Valenciana. Great stuff, very fresh tasting seafood with the right spices and the rice wasn't waterlogged nor crunchy, perfect.

The salad was excellent too, people started to order it after they saw mine. It wasn't your usual sald, they made it in front of you and the Worstershire sauce in the dressing gave it the right kick.

A buddy had the Palmilla steak, and he loved it. A parent had the parilla mixta. Even though he'd never had chorizo before, he liked the flavor a lot. One of the other parents had the steak "chacho" and she wooned over it. She also ordered the scallap appetizer. She gave me a taste, I swooned.

The desserts were awesome so the kids were happy. They had the dulce de leche cheesecake and the chocolate cake. I had a taste of the chocolate cake, surprisingly light and very good.

We went to Newks one night, right after a Lighning game so it was pretty crowded. The grouper sandwich and the conch fritters were awesome, everything else was so-so. Should have gone to Beef's.

We have dinner one night at Hattricks, close to the convention center and they did an awesome grouper, grilled and with a caper based sauce. The veggies and potatoes were great too.

The last day, after my team bombed out, a bunch of us coaches went to Jackson's just across the bridge from the convention center. We were too late for the Sunday brunch so we settled for some bar menu stuff. great sushi, incredibly fresh. Nice spinich and artichoke dip, and the grouper sandwich was fresh, but I'd hit my limit for grouper already. We were there mainly to drown our sorrows, and we did very well there.
