Decided to check out the NW corner of Clinton & Chestnut last Thursday, where we'd seen a crowd of people one night on our way home from the airport. The tent awnings are gone, replaced by a nice concrete roofed area supported by stucco columns. There are two taco trucks parked along the west and north sides. The one on the west serves mariscos, the other tacos, burritos, tortas, and quesadillas.
Started with three tacos, lengua y cabeza (1.25 ea) and a pescado (1.50). All generous helpings on two small corn tortillas, very tasty. There's a salsa bar with condiments to doctor things up as you like. Tacos de camarone are 1.75. Other taco and burrito fillings include asada, adobada, pollo, and carnitas. Tortas include all those plus jamon and lomo (a stewed pork, I was told).
Also tried the ceviche tostada from the other truck. Very fresh tasting fish, again very generous helping for 2.00. The tostada shell was pre-fab but crisp enough while being able to hold together so I could eat it like a small pizza.
The mariscos truck basically serves seafood cocktails and tostadas, mixtos of camarones, pulpo, jaiba, and ceviche. I did notice from the take-out menu that they also have a dozen ostiones en su concha (oysters on the half-shell) for $8 or half-dozen for 4.50, and Sopa de Camarone for $6.
They have agua frescas, horchata, jamaica, pina and tamarindo, as well as sodas.
