New sushi option - Dee's on Armitage

I've always known Dee's to have good not-so-Chinese Chinese food. The quality of their meals and their service have always been good and pretty consistent.

Well, now there is a new and improved Dee's. After closing for a two month re-model, the new space is very nice. They atmosphere is a bit subdued and very cozy. For the most part the Chinese menu is the same, but they've added a new sushi bar!! The sushi that I had was quite spectacular. Generous cuts, and very fresh. The presentation of the fish itself was a bit more creative than I've seen at other places, however the sushi was served on a glass platter that was a bit awkward to me. The fish options were not too exotic, but the quality of the maguro (tuna) and sake (fresh salmon) were pretty impressive. They did carry my two favorites, amaebi (fresh shrimp, served w. fried heads) and uni (sea urchin).

Apparently, the sushi chef has a bit of a following and it is not unusual to see a small Japanese clientele.

Dee is the sister of the owners of Sai Cafe, Naniwa and Bob-San.

I would definitely go back.
