What is Sushi Bistro?

Cynthia | Jul 7, 2004 06:31 PM

a rose is a rose is a rose? Driving by Balboa and 6th Avenue, I've noticed Sushi Bistro but have never ventured to its door. Today at noon, there was a parking space in front and that was reason enough to have sushi for lunch—especially with a bold yellow banner across the front declaring that Lunch is now served Tues-Sat. I was there alone; literally, no waitress, no one at the sushi counter, dimmed lighting. The neon signed beamed "open" and my "hello?" was greeted by a friendly young couple. The menu is extensive; with the usual curry, tempura, teriyaki, ramen and udon and sake list. The sushi is pristine and generous in portion; tako, ika, hamachi, and uni for $16. A perfect lunch for one.
