It is amazing that this place is packed every night. I didn't realize they also had a lounge downstairs where you can get small plates. They also have another room for big parties to dine.
The food I believe is a mix of Uraguayan, Argentinian, Peruvian and Chilean. I couldn't tell you how authentic the food was. Some dishes were even very asian like. For instance I had some crab with uni on a tortilla chip,, which was good. The ceviche is good also. The prawn with head on, is very flavorful, but I would be careful with that one, as the tails were all mushy ( something to watch out for).
They have steak, fish, chicken dishes, but I think the small plates are the way to go. The banana custard dessert with cocoa brittle was good.
When you first enter you find the reception cold and you hear about an hour or 2 or 3 wait. But friendly up to some staff and you get a seat faster. Or go back a few times and they know you and you avoid some of the wait.
The service is excellent. Wiatresses, maitre d' , busboys, bartenders. Everyone was great.
If you can't get in, you can go right next door to Lotus Blue.
