sunday am travelin bfasts in SLO

Since the Thanksgiving weekend is coming up, and lots of folks will be doing the 101 trip up and down the Central Coast, I thought I'd mention a decent, fast, clean, cheap place to catch breakfast:

Frank's Hot Dogs at the corner of California Blvd and Monterey St. in SLO. (exit 101 California Blvd go south to Monterey St.)

A local, non-chain fast food place, it's sparkling clean, offers breakfast pancakes, egg & ham, bfast burritos, etc as well as your standard hot dog hamburger, salad, etc. lunch menu. It's a "Let's eat and get back on the road" place. Closed on the major holidays.

I work in a rest/hotel up the street, which is very popular with travelers. Savvy repeat diners know to make reservations, and they will be seated within 15 min of reservations or get a meal 1/2 price. However, on the busy holiday weekends, the place is slammed from 8:30 till 1:30 for bfast and lunch. Don't try it w/o reservations! I can't tell you how many families wander in, and a few minutes, steam back out with smoke coming out their ears because they aren't seated right away. "They had lots of empty tables!! harrumph!" I always reco Frank's to them cause the food is decent, its in-and-out in 1/2 hour, and as I said, clean! So Dad'll be happy to get back on the road (sorry Mom, there's no gift shop!) and the kids will love the menu.

I rec the chili size, the onion rings, bfast burrito, eggs, (scrambled only) and pancakes with ham or bacon. Last time I was there for bfast they also had linguica sausage. Don't miss the strawberry shakes during the berry season.

Happy traveling!
