Sunday Brunch at 17th St. Cafe

Had a very nice, relaxing and tasty brunch yesterday at 17th Street Cafe on Montana Ave. I like their brunch much more that their dinner. My wife and I both had their tortilla soup, one of the best around. They don't do a broth style however, so be forewarned. Spicy without being too hot, lots of chicken, and the right amount of cheese, cilantro and tortilla strips. I tried the skirt steak sandwich on grilled sourdough bread. It came with avocado, grilled onions, tomatoes and a mayo dressing. They did it medium rare, just as requested. My wife always has their grilled chicken breast on the pizza bread roll. My only gripe was they were out of sweet potato fries. This is a very popular place, so go early or late, or make a reservation. (I think they take them?) I like to go about 2:30 PM when everyone else is clearing out. Now this is not a cheap brunch. With one beer, and a coke the tab was $44 plus tip. But I felt well satisfied with the food and service.
